Hello, Freedom To Know Wellness community. It’s the end of 2024, and many of us are coming together with family and friends to celebrate one of the many faith-based and cultural ceremonies at this time of year. Others are excited for time off to relax, spend time with those dear to them and catch up with those who haven’t seen in a while. Whatever you do this holiday, enjoy it. Take time to reflect on the goodness in your life, especially in health.
For us managing complex medical chronic pain conditions, including mental illnesses, living in Canada, the cold winters and lack of sunlight can be hard on the body and mind. But don’t let that keep you down. Even when it seems frustrating, enjoy what you can. Life has so much to offer. As the saying goes, “Once there is life there is hope”. With that hope comes the opportunities for many joys and new amazing experiences. I know It’s easier said than done, but don’t stagnate your journey even when you feel like it is. Breathe and move through it, along with gratitude for the little things. Tell your body “I love you” giving your body a safe space within you, even in its pain and fragility. Pain wants us to disconnect, but disconnection creates more pain. We are a whole being. Remain connected. Meditate, pray, take vitamin D, have a good Epsom salt bath, and do whatever helps soothe your body, mind and soul.
We all need community. Surround yourself with an amazing team of family and friends who will support you on this journey. It doesn’t have to be many, even one or two. It’s not the crowd it’s the select few who can encourage your peace.
Lastly, take time for those you may not know well, but could use encouragement. Give a call, a visit, serve the less fortunate— whatever you can do. You are not only uplifting others but in turn, inspiring yourself.
Have a safe and happy holiday and see everyone in the New Year (2025🎉)
Be Well, with blessings and kindness. 💜
